The Northeastern State University women’s tennis team hopes to take a spring break trip next March to compete in Florida. A trip of that magnitude is not in their travel budget so the Pryor American Legion and the Claremore American Veterans Motorcycle Club are helping the team organize a bike wash at the in Pryor on August 23 from noon to 5 pm. The Pryor American Legion is located at 1105 W. Highway 20.
The event will offer bike enthusiasts a chance to meet the young women and have their bikes washed in exchange for tips. The RiverHawks women’s tennis team has risen from an unranked team to the top 25 in just two seasons under Coach Amanda Stone who joined the team in January 2013.
“The girls have worked hard and done all that I have asked of them and their hard work has paid off,” Stone said. “I want to offer them the opportunity to travel to Florida for two reasons. I want to reward them but also give them the chance to compete against teams they would normally not have the opportunity to play.”
“The Claremore American Veterans Motorcycle Club is honored to help these dedicated athletes and we encourage the bike community to come out and show their support on the 23rd,” President Larry Parker said. “The event will give us a chance to experience fun and fellowship while helping a great group of young women achieve a goal.”
The club will sponsor sales of Bud and Bud Light as well as soda with those proceeds also benefiting the team.
