SIOUX FALLS, S.D. – The OBU baseball team took on a familiar foe, Arkansas-Monticello, in its second straight elimination game of the NCAA Central Regional. After a wild four-plus-hour long game that was delayed due to weather, the Bison prevailed 17-15.
The scoring for the Bison was started off in the bottom of the first on an RBI double off the bat of Ramon Enriquez.
In the bottom of the second, Joey Pledger grounded out to second base, allowing Kaimana Bartolome to score.
In the bottom of the third, OBU’s offense came out strong overtaking UAM for the lead. Enriquez led off the inning with a solo home run. Eric Carlson then scored off an RBI triple from Brock Carter. Brett Bloomfield then hit an RBI double down the right field line batting in Carter.
In the bottom of the fourth, Carlson hit a three-run home run, driving in PJ Harris and Jake Gozzo. Bartolome then rounded out the inning with solo home run.
In the bottom of the fifth and sixth OBU put up the game-sealing seven runs. Bloomfield, Garrett McKee, Pledger, and Gozzo all scored. Bartolome added his second homer of the day in the bottom of the fifth batting in Carlson and Enriquez.
In the top of the ninth inning OBU was able to stave off Monticello’s five-run rally, giving the Bison the 17-15 victory.
