SHAWNEE – The Oklahoma Baptist Volleyball team’s Fan Day is set to run from 10 a.m. to 12 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 20. Fans of the perennial contender will be treated to a scrimmage, followed by a free youth clinic.
The Lady Bison will kick off the event at 10 a.m. with an intrasquad scrimmage, giving fans their first look of the 2016 squad. Last season’s team reached the National Christian College Athletic Association (NCCAA) Finals following a runner-up finish in the Great American Conference where they posted a 14-2 record in league play.
Once the scrimmage concludes, children ages 4 to 12 have the opportunity to learn from the Lady Bison themselves as part of a free clinic. Current coaches and student-athletes will provide instruction for clinic participants. Additionally, all attendees of the clinic will receive tickets to catch the Lady Bison in action at OBU’s home and GAC opener against Northwestern Oklahoma State on September 13th at 7 p.m. inside the Noble Complex.
“We’re really excited to show off on the 20th,” said OBU Volleyball head coach Anna Howle. “Our girls love working with younger kids. We really hope that we have a great turnout – it’s a free clinic. We want to teach volleyball to the Shawnee community. We’re just really excited about Fan Day and getting kids involved with our team!”
Fans also have the opportunity to meet the Lady Bison during an autograph session near the conclusion of the event.
Oklahoma Baptist opens the 2016 season on Friday, September 2nd at 10 a.m. against North Carolina-Pembroke at the Eckerd College Tournament in St. Petersburg, Florida.
