The National Christian College Athletic Association honored four student-athletes from Oklahoma schools as Players of the Week this week.
Oklahoma Christian had three of this week’s honorees, while Southern Nazarene was represented by one as well.
Kendra Pierce was the NCCAA Player of the Week in softball. She is a sophomore shortstop for the OC Eagles.This week she was 7-of-10 from the plate, with four doubles, 10 RBI, had a slugging percentage of 1.100 and scored four runs in two games.
Barbora Bozkova, from Oklahoma Christian, was the women’s tennis Player of the Week. The junior had wins over three-time D-2 South Central Regional champion (and No. 5-ranked) Julia Mongin of Abilene Christian (Texas) 6-1, 6-7, 10-5; Lauren Renner (6-1, 6-1) of McMurry (Texas) and Mackenzie Knoop (6-3, 6-1) of Trinity (Texas), which is ranked No. 15 in NCAA Division III. Including her doubles matches, Bozkova went 5-1 on the week.
Nicolas Auruccio, a sophomore at OC, was the men’s tennis Player of the Week. He beat Texas-Tyler’s Jonathon Karsten 6-3, 6-0 at No. 6 singles and teamed with Julio Pulido to beat Kevin Singer and Ryan Spencer 8-5 at No. 2 doubles.
And Jackie Stevens, a senior from Southern Nazarene, was tabbed the NCCAA women’s indoor track and field Player of the Week. She set the school record and took first place in the OBU Invitational with a 53-feet, 11-inch toss in the weight throw. That throw is currently second in the NCCAA right now and would have met NCAA Division II qualifying standards.
