The Oklahoma City Stars were one of three teams to pick up six first-place votes in the first regular season NAIA Baseball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll of 2013.
The Stars (26-7) picked up enough overall points to be ranked No. 2 in the poll, just behind Lee (Tenn.).
Oklahoma City won six straight before dropping a 3-2 contest to Southern Nazarene on Tuesday.
OCU is one of five Oklahoma schools to be place in the season’s initial ranking.
Rogers State is also in the top 10 at No. 6. The defending national runners-up are 21-7, but have hit a rough spot in the schedule, winning only two of the last six.
Oklahoma Baptist is in at No. 14. The Bison (24-9) had a nine-game winning streak snapped by RSU last week. OBU split the four-game series with Roger State.
USAO was unranked in the preseason and ranked 22nd. The Drovers (27-5) are out to their best start in school history and have won 10 of the last 12.
And Bacone comes in at No. 24 in the ranking. The Warriors are 25-9 and 14-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference. BC was riding an eight-game winning streak – which included scoring in double figures in six of those games – that was snapped by Oklahoma Wesleyan on Tuesday.
