KANSAS CITY, Mo. – Georgia Wall from top-ranked Oklahoma City University scooped up NAIA softball pitcher of the week for March 20-26.
Wall, a sophomore from Marlow, Okla., became the first OCU softball player to be honored by the NAIA with a weekly award since Leslie Miller picked up NAIA player of the week for April 11-17, 2016.
On Thursday, Wall twirled a perfect game in an 8-0 Stars victory over Sterling (Kan.) at Ann Lacy Stadium. Wall had OCU’s first perfect game since Abby Meador struck for a perfect game April 21, 2015 in a 6-0 win at Mid-America Christian. Wall struck out eight while getting each Sterling hitter out through five innings. Wall recorded 60 pitches.
Wall posted a 2-0 record, 0.64 earned run average and 11 strikeouts in 11 innings throughout the week. Wall collected her third Sooner Athletic Conference hurler of the week nod of 2017 for her efforts. On the season, Wall has amassed a 15-0 record, 0.56 ERA, 12 complete games, six shutouts, three saves and 93 strikeouts in 99.1 innings. She ranks second among the NAIA with a .134 opponents’ batting average. Wall has posted victories in her last 20 decisions while boasting of a 43-1 career record and six conference pitcher of the week accolades for OCU.
The Stars (34-0) put their program-best undefeated start on the line against SAC foe St. Gregory’s at 3 p.m. Tuesday in Shawnee, Okla.
