SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist University will host its Inaugural Women in Athletics Banquet on Tuesday, February 2nd at 6:30 p.m. inside the Geiger Center. The banquet will be held to honor the accomplishments of Oklahoma Baptist’s women student-athletes, with all proceeds from the event dedicated to endowing a women’s scholarship fund.
Sarah Roberts, the Director of Women’s Ministry for the Oklahoma Chapter of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes (FCA) will be the evening’s keynote speaker. Also presenting on Tuesday night will be Oklahoma Baptist Athletics Director Robert Davenport, Senior Women’s Administrator and OBU Head Volleyball Coach Anna Howle, and Cat Roth, the Co-President of the Student-Athlete Advisory Committee.
Additionally, several former and present Lady Bison will be honored as the 2016 Women of the Year. Two members of the OBU Hall of Fame Class of 2015, Jayme Hutchcraft and Marissa Lightsey, will be recognized, as well as OBU’s 2014-15 Female Student-Athlete of the Year, Hannah Fields.
The banquet will also include highlights from the 2014-15 season, showcasing the accomplishments of OBU’s female student-athletes.
Guests will have the opportunity to compete for door and raffle prizes. All items have been donated by local businesses and Oklahoma Baptist alumni. There will also be a full complement of desserts provided through donations by local businesses and bakeries.
Admission is $5 for students who wish to attend, and $20 for all others interested. Tickets can be bought through Linsey Mastin in the Department of Kinesiology and Leisure Studies office, or at the door the night of the banquet.
