Oklahoma has been at the top of the polls throughout the 2013 softball season. And the top spot is the place form which the Sooners will embark on their final run toward a championship.
Oklahoma is the No. 1 overall seed in the NCAA Division I Softball Championship. The Sooners (47-4) will take on Marist (30-24) in their first contest in the regional bracket in Norman.
OU finished 15-2 in the Big 12 and took the regular season title. Then the Sooners shut out the rival OSU Cowgirls, 4-0, in the conference tournament title game to claim their fifth Big 12 postseason crown.
Oklahoma hopes to win its first national title since 2000.
Tulsa will also be playing in the national tournament. The Golden Hurricane is headed to Nebraska as one of four teams in the Lincoln Regional.
TU (42-14) took an at-large bid from Conference USA and will face Stanford (37-19) in its first round matchup.
