The Lady Eagles opened the 2016 season in style before a home crowd in the Mueller Sports Center on Friday.
Oklahoma Wesleyan swept Bacone, 25-15, 25-15, 25-13.
Head coach Tracie Anderberg-Gillette said there might have been some nerves for her group to get started.
“We were a little jittery,” Anderberg-Gillette said. “Deer in the headlights. But we were glad we were able to pull off the 3-0 victory.”
The team as a whole hit .233, which Anderberg-Gillette said was OK, but she would like to see get better.
Chloe Davis had a match-high 12 kills and hit .350 and Emily Hollingsworth had six kills hitting .417.
Ludmilla dos Santos had 17 assists on the night. Keona Leano had 17 assists for Bacone in the loss.
OKWU next plays Aug. 26-27 in the OKWU Invitational. Bacone plays in its home opener on Aug. 30 against another in-state rival Langston.
