Today the OSN Spotlight, presented by Blackbeard Marine, shines on Luis Guerra!
• Southern Nazarene track
• Hometown: Yukon, Okla.
• Pre-physical therapy major expected to graduate May 2019
• Sports played: Track and Cross Country…tried out for tennis and soccer, didn’t make it. So I’m stuck with track!
• Favorite team: San Antonio Spurs, Oregon Ducks, Chicago Cubs
• Favorite players: Lebron James, Mo Farah, and Usain Bolt
• Favorite sports moment – personal: “Great American Conference track meet, racing the 5k my sophomore year. Everything beforehand had not gone smoothly in training, but somehow when I needed it most, God provided me with the best performance of my collegiate career to date.”
• Favorite sports moment – overall: “The Chicago Cubs winning the World Series in 2016 (and hopefully I can add Mexico winning the World Cup because we beat Germany!!)”
• What do you like most about SNU? “The small student body size, it creates an intimacy with almost everyone on campus that makes it easy to socialize with everyone no matter the time of day. Everywhere you go, there will be somebody you recognize! And as a chatty-social-extrovert, I love it!!”
• Who do you most look up to? “My mother, my high school track coach, and also Mo Farah. All three have qualities I want to incorporate and carry with me for the rest of my life…and I also added my momma because I’m a momma’s boy. I’ll admit it!!”
• Goals: “To have another year of great racing for SNU, I want to leave an impression on all of my younger teammates and be the mentor/older brother figure my past teammates were to me, to insure the future success of track team and add to its legacy, and to lead my team to our first Cross-Country team title!!”
