This week’s Oklahoma college Players of the Week, presented by First United Bank, are McKenzie Stanford, OC, and J.D. Tisdale, RSU.
McKenzie Stanford, senior, Oklahoma Christian (Perkins-Tryon H.S.)
OC faced a tough portion of its schedule last week, taking on St. Edward’s (undefeated in Heartland play) and UCO (undefeated overall at the time), and came up short in both. But Stanford’s play was noteworthy. The senior averaged 21.5 points and 6.0 rebounds per game as 2016 came to a close.
J.D. Tisdale, senior, Rogers State
Tisdale had a career night in a win against in-state Heartland rival Oklahoma Panhandle on New Year’s Eve. The senior scored 26 points on the night, while corralling five rebounds and dishing out five assists. He helped the Hillcats establish a solid lead by halftime, as he scored 22 of his 26 points in the first half, and closed out the half on a personal 12-point run.
