The Northeastern State women’s golf team is listed at the top of the Central Region rankings again, and now is the time when it counts.
NSU is one of four teams from Oklahoma to receive an invitation to the NCAA Division II Women’s Golf Championships. The super regionals will be held May 2-4, with the top three teams from each of the four events advancing to the national championship.
Northeastern State coming off a victory in the MIAA Championship, winning the event by 20 strokes. It was the fifth win of the season for the RiverHawks, ranked nationally No. 12, who are advancing to the NCAA Tournament for the 15th time in 17 years.
Also from the MIAA, Central is ranked third in the region and has earned an at-large bid. It is the fifth consecutive trip to the NCAA Tournament for the Bronchos.
UCO, nationally ranked No. 24, won one tournament this season, had five second-place finishes and was in the top four in nine of 11 events.
Southwestern will also be competing in the Central super regional. The Lady Dawgs had three top four finishes and are tied heading into the final round of the GAC Championship.
The Central super regional is set to play at Awarii Dunes Golf Club in Axtell, Neb.
Oklahoma Christian has also earned an at-large bid. The Lady Eagles will compete in the West super regional, coming in as the 12th-ranked team.
OC won three events this season and qualified for the tournament in its first season to have NCAA eligibility.
The West super regional will be played at Brookside Country Club in Stockton, Calif.
