Southern Nazarene looks to build on its most impressive season in school history as it plays out what will likely be its last in NAIA in 2011.
The Crimson Storm went 7-4 in 2010 and for the first time finished the season ranked (No. 24). SNU also defeated a ranked opponent for the first time when the Crimson Storm made a field goal as time expired to top No. 23 Langston. The rematch is also the regular season finale this season, as the Lions will come to Bethany on Nov. 12 for SNU’s homecoming.
The Crimson Storm will play its first three games at the SNU Football Stadium and all are against nonconference opponents. Â See the full schedule here.
The next four contests are on the road with a couple of Central States Football League rivals thrown in the mix. Southern Nazarene will have the chance to get back at Northwestern Oklahoma on Oct. 1. The Rangers gave the Crimson Storm their only loss in CSFL play in 2010 as SNU finished in second place in the conference. On Oct. 8, SNU will travel to Waxahachie, Texas, to take on Southwestern Assemblies of God.
The final four games are CSFL contests. In 2010, games against those four opponents were exciting. If the Crimson Storm can have the same success in the conference slate added to victories in the early part of the schedule, they should be looking at an NAIA playoff berth.
