WINONA LAKE, Ind. – Southwestern Christian University downed Trinity International (Ill.) 77-72 Thursday and advanced to the championship game of the NCCAA Division I Men’s Basketball Championships at the Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center.
The Eagles (19-14) came from behind twice on the night and got a game-high 25 points from Gabi Laurent en route to the victory.
Second-seeded SCU will take on top-seeded Emmanuel (Ga.) at 4 p.m. CDT Saturday at Manahan Orthopedic Capital Center.
Laurent finished with a double-double of 25 points and 12 rebounds to lead the SCU attack. He finished the day 11-for-15 from the field and 3-for-3 from the free throw line.
Marvin White followed with 21 points, four rebounds and three steals. White and Laurent each logged 38 minutes on the night.
James Still added 14 points and five rebounds, while Shawn Scott chipped in with nine points and four boards.
Mikel Parish provided eight points, 10 rebounds and three assists.
