SHAWNEE – No. 41 Southeastern secured a regular season Great American Conference championship and won its 10th-straight match with what may have been its biggest win of the season, downing No. 18 Oklahoma Baptist, 5-4, in Shawnee, Okla., on Monday afternoon.

The win lifts the Savage Storm to 15-2 overall on the season and 6-0 in GAC play, earning the number one seed in the conference tournament slated for Apr. 20-22 in Bentonville, Ark.

In doubles play, SE bounced back from a loss at the one position to see Anna Buiukian and Samantha Coquinos pick up an 8-2 win at number two over OBU’s duo of Olivia Charvat and Madeleine Boepple.

The Storm would leave doubles play with a 2-1 advantage thanks to the work of Maria Matinez and Luisa Auffarth who toughed out an 8-6 win at number three over Alex Bowers and Caroline Abbe.

OBU would even the score with a win at the one singles position, but Buiukian would bounce back to give SE a 3-2 edge by downing Charvat 6-2, 6-4.

The Bison would pick up wins at numbers three and four to briefly take a 4-3 lead.

However, Martinez would knot the match at 4-4 with a 6-2, 6-3 win over Bowers at the five spot.

That allowed Auffarth to finish off the 5-4 victory with a 6-2, 6-3 win of her own over Abbe at the number six spot.
