KANSAS CITY, Mo. – The United Soccer Coaches (USC) have named Alimata Rabo a National Player of the Week for the second time this season after another offensive flurry of goals from the sophomore.
Rabo has now earned the honor three times in her career, once in 2016 when the organization was formerly known as the National Soccer Coaches Association of America (NSCAA) and now two times in 2017 under the USC. She is one of two SWOSU Soccer standouts who have been recognized nationally in the program’s history and the first since Charlotte Eastman became the first back in 2015.
Last week, Rabo scored four goals in a game for the third time in her career and the second time this season. Her performance came against Harding, a team SWOSU was 0-6-3 against in their previous nine meetings dating back to 2013. The Dawgs went on to rout Harding 6-1, snapping that streak with a statement. She added two more on the week with a pair of scores against Ouachita and finished the week with a division II leading 22 goals on the year.
“This is a great honor for Alimata and it represents our entire team for having a strong week of play,” SWOSU Head Coach Mark Persson said. “Alimata has such a competitive spirit and she continues to develop within the team system. She has been finishing her opportunities at a high rate recently and that’s what led to her receiving this award.”
