Southeastern is looking to rebound from a disappointing 3-8 season in 2010 and will get a chance to do that in a brand new conference. The Savage Storm is one of three Oklahoma schools and six Arkansas schools that have gotten together to form the Great American Conference.
The Storm will play only 10 games in 2011 – five at home and five on the road. See the full schedule here.
But the conference slate has a little different feel. SOSU has two more road conference games than home ones (five and three). Storm fans who travel with the team will get their chance to travel far and wide through the Natural State to Magnolia, Monticello, Russellville, and Searcy. Ironically, both of the schools from the same town (Henderson State and Ouachita Baptist from Arkadelphia) will play in Durant.
Southeastern starts a little late in the season. The Storm will host in-state rival Central Oklahoma on Sept. 10. The only other nonconference matchup pits the Storm against another longtime rival when Northeastern State plays at Paul Laird Field on Oct. 8.
The best small college rivalry in the state of Oklahoma will continue in Ada on Sept. 24. Southeastern and East Central will meet for the ninety-fourth time. SOSU holds a slim 44-43-6 edge in the series.
