HOT SPRINGS, Ark. – Southwestern ran into a buzzsaw in its first round matchup of the postseason tournament.
Top seeded regular season champion Arkansas Tech extended its winning streak to 19 with the sweep (25-16, 25-16, 25-18) of the Bulldogs in the 2014 Great American Conference tournament quarterfinal at the Bank of the Ozarks Arena.
Southwestern’s season ends at 8-19.
The Golden Suns are the defending tournament champions and reached the semifinals for the fourth consecutive year.
Carly Zak had 14 kills and had a valiant effort in a losing cause. Brandy Mader had six kills to go with 11 assists.
Arkansas Tech faces Harding in the semifinals on Friday.
