SWOSU (24-2, 19-1 GAC) began the week at home on Thursday by defeating Southeastern 80-65 in a game where the Dawgs outscored the Savage Storm in all four quarters of the contest. Two days later, SWOSU fell to East Central 76-66, which snapped their 15 game winning streak that dated all the way back to December 15. The loss was just SWOSU’s second of the season and the first in conference play.

Coming into this week, SWOSU still holds the No. 1 ranking in the Central Region and will await the new set of weekly region rankings that will release on Wednesday to see if the loss drops them out of the top spot.

The Lady Bulldogs did their part to begin the final week of the regular season yesterday (Feb. 19) by bouncing back from their loss with an 85-74 road victory over rival Northwestern. The win gave SWOSU at least a share of the regular season GAC title and the Lady Dawgs can claim the title outright with a win against OBU or SNU.

SWOSU will now play host to Oklahoma Baptist on Wednesday in the second of three games scheduled for this week. Wednesday will mark the final home game of the regular season and will be Senior Night for both Penina Faumui and Shalie McAlister who will honored prior to tipoff. Saturday, the Lady Dawgs will close out the regular season on the road against Southern Nazarene.

The Great American Conference Tournament in Bartlesville, Oklahoma begins Thursday, March 1 and will go through Sunday, March 4 which is Championship Sunday. SWOSU has already locked up a No. 1 seed for the tournament and will come into the postseason as a conference champion for the first time in the GAC’s seven year history.
