The budget cuts that are happening in colleges and universities throughout Oklahoma, both big and small, are starting to have tangible and visible effects.
One of the first was the suspension of the tennis and golf programs at East Central.
The next shoe fell today.
The University of Tulsa announced this morning that the athletic department will be eliminating the men’s golf program.
Citing ‘available resources’ and ‘financial realities’, the athletic department said through a release that it had made the tough decision after much deliberation.
The university did go on to say that it would honor the scholarships granted to those student-athletes currently with the men’s golf program.
