“O’er the land of the free, and the home of the brave.”
Play ball!
The national anthem is the traditional way to open a contest, any contest at any level, throughout this great nation of ours. And this song will be played and/or sung, in both recorded version and live, with good renditions and those that are painful to endure.
But every time you hear this song performed, take the time to remember that you get to hear it. You don’t have to – you get to. Remember that people have paid a price – some have paid the ultimate price – so you could have the freedom to “play ball.”
As we commemorate Memorial Day, we do not forget those who have died in the service of the United States. May God bless their memories and their families. The staff of Oklahoma Sports Blog says, “Thank you.”
