WICHITA, Kan. – Southwestern Christian University escaped the Garvey Center with a 61-60 victory over Friends (Kan.) Monday.

Maranda Janz hit a running 10-footer at the buzzer to lift the Lady Eagles over the Falcons. SCU improved to 2-3 on the season with win.

“I’m very proud of our young ladies who fought hard all night,” SCU coach Mark Arthur said. “We really did a nice job executing in the second half and shot 58 percent. It was a great win over a very good team.”

Three Lady Eagles scored in double figures on the night, including Eliora Johnson who finished with 14 points and eight rebounds. Grace Hadley followed with 14 points and six rebounds, and Andi McGill added 14 points and five boards.

SCU will return to action against St. Edwards (Texas) Nov. 13 in Austin, Texas.
