“I was very pleased with every single kid…they are starting to figure it out. They are tough, good kids, and they compete,” said head coach Tom Webb.  “The keys are field goal percentage, defense, turnovers and rebounds.  Both DJ and Markita did a good job, we played solo in the post tonight. We haven’t been playing solo in the post, we have been doubling and diving, but we didn’t tonight.  We went one-on-one and they did a good job of it.”
Tarleton opened with the lead for the first eight minutes until Montgomery nailed a layup to put CU in front 14-13. The Aggies continued to stay out in front and a Leal trey pushed it to a five point, 20-15 lead midway through the half.  A run by TSU turned the lead back over and with six minutes left a three pointer handed the TexAnns a 28-24 advantage.  Cameron went on a 6-2 run and overtook Tarleton once again with a 32-30 lead with 3:37 left, but both teams would get locked in head-to-head battle and left to the locker room tied at 37.
Cameron edged Tarleton in shooting with a 42.9 percentage, compared to 40 percent by the TexAnns.
In the second half Cameron reopened with a four point, 48-44 advantage; however Tarleton State took the momentum and scored 10 unanswered to lead 54-48. Â The Aggies would regroup in a big way with a 14-0 run to shutdown TSU to steer out in front 68-56 with six to go which would be good enough to push CU to their seventh win of the season.
