TAHLEQUAH – For the second day in a row the No. 10 RiverHawks showed plenty of muscle in doubles play and swept all three courts to set the table for a 6-3 win over No. 11 Southwest Baptist on Sunday.
The win was their fifth in a row and 33rd straight in MIAA regular season play.
Northeastern State swept doubles eight times this season with the tightest battle coming on court-1 with Val Efimenko and Molly Worden needing a tiebreaker to win 9-8 (7-5).
Southwest Baptist (9-2, 2-1 MIAA) split singles play with the RiverHawks by winning on the first two courts and on court-4. The best action of the day came on court-3 with Caitlin McCullough. Despite the match being clinched toward the RiverHawks with a fifth point, McCullough split two tiebreakers for the win and remained perfect with six overall victories this week.
The RiverHawks are now 10-5 overall and 4-0 in the MIAA, they will return to the courts on March 25 to host Central Oklahoma.
