LAWTON, Okla. — The Cameron University cross country team is ready to commence their 2012 season as they travel to Wichita Falls for the Midwestern State Mustang stampede.
The race will be on Thursday, Aug. 30, at 7:45 p.m. Cameron will be running a distance of 6,000 meters.
For first year head coach Casey Kreger, he is excited and happy with the teams work ethic.
“The summer training went very well. Everyone did everything what they were supposed to during the summer,” said Kreger. “Nobody is out of shape and it is the hardest that everyone has worked here with the most practices ever.”
“We are hitting all the aspects from the pool to the weight room. Leading up to the race, everybody is ready to go and we will be training through the race. We are not cutting back for it at all. It should be a good showing.”
This is the first competition for the Aggies, under the direction of Kreger, racing against other cross country programs in the southwest.
“The event will be six thousand meters which is 2,000 meters shorter than the average race, so it will throw more guys into the mix because it is a faster pace,” said Kreger. “It will be against the same local teams we see. East central is always a rival when we race against them, so it will be a good showing of how we weigh against them.”
