CASPER, Wyo. – As the final go-rounds of the 2019 College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) came to a close Friday, a total of four Oklahoma Panhandle State University rodeo team members advanced to Saturday’s short round finale. The Aggie quartet includes: Jade Taton (Coleman, Texas) in Bareback; Dawson Dahm(Tomahawk, Alberta, Canada) and Cooper Thatcher (Darbalara, New South Wales, Australia) in Saddle Bronc, and; Beau Peterson (Council Grove, Kan.) in Goat Tying.
The CNFR finals begin at 8 p.m. (CT) from the Casper Events Center. It will be broadcast live on thewatchespn app and ESPN 3.
Taton earned his slot in the finals, thanks to his Friday third go-round ride. Taton scored a 68.5 to vault up the Bareback chart and into the short round in the No. 10 position. He enters the finals with an average of 214.5 points.
Dahm and Thatcher head to the Saddle Bronc finals ranked seventh and eighth, respectively. Dahm has an average of 215.0 and Thatcher was close behind at 213.0 points.
Peterson will head into the Goat Tying short round in third place. She had an average of 19.2 for her three go-rounds, trailing in the overall average by one second.
