TULSA – The Tulsa Shock took a seven-point lead into the fourth quarter and only added to it Thursday at the BOK Center.
Tulsa defeated the Chicago Sky, 83-74, ending a three-game losing streak.
The Shock (2-7) were led by Riquna Williams, who came off the bench to put in a game-high 21 points.
Glory Johnson was on the court for more than 37 of the game’s 40 minutes and tallied a double-double with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Johnson had scored in double figures in all nine games this season.
“Great game, great team win,” Johnson said. “It was really good for us. We have had a lot of close overtimes and it’s been tough and we stay positive with each other and focus on the next game and trying to get the next win no matter what our record is.”
Nicole Powell scored 18 and Candace Wiggins put in 17 for the Shock.
Shock coach Gary Kloppenburg said he was pleased with the victory and happy that his team was rewarded for the hard work it had put in.
“I am happy for our players and that they finally got some payoff for all the hard work and all those heartbreaking losses,” Kloppenburg said.
“I think it’s a resilient group and they play with a lot of passion and I am really happy that we could get this win at home.”
Sylvia Fowles led the Sky with 17 points.
