Less than a week ago, the Aggies were shutout by Tarleton State for the second straight year in the LSC Championship quarterfinal. CU had chances to break into the run column in both the third and seventh innings, but Jordan Withrow was able to hold off the scoring threat both times. Bethany Hines pitched well for CU, giving up just the two runs in 5.2 innings of work.
The Black and Gold will look to avenge their shutout loss in the first round of the regional. This season, Cameron has gone 1-3 in their four matchups against TSU. CU is batting just .237 with 14 runs scored two extra-base hits, led by Khmari Edwards and Breley Webb, who both recorded four hits and three RBI during the four-game series. In the circle, they have a combined ERA of 3.50 with 17 strikeouts in 26 innings against the TexAnns.
Against Texas A&M-Commerce this season, the Aggies took just one game of their three game series, winning 5-1 behind a pitching gem by Bethany Hines. Hines struck out eight batters, walked one, and gave up six hits in the complete game outing; Cameron was outscored 21-3 in the two loses to the Lions. At the plate, they hit just .215 with three doubles and two homers, both of which came off the bat of Brenna Busby who also recorded four RBI during the series.
The winner of the South Central Region 2 Tournament will move on to face the winner of the Region 1 Tournament in the Super-Regional next week. The Region 1 field consists of the host and top seed Texas A&M-Kingsville, West Texas A&M, Colorado Mesa, and Oklahoma Christian.
