AUSTIN, Texas – The Cameron University men’s golf team leads the field after two rounds of play at the St. Edward’s Invitational on Monday.
Cameron used a 288 first round and a 289 second round to card a 577 through the 36-holes of play at the Onion Creek Golf Club. They lead the second place team, St. Edward’s, by just one stroke.
Will Lovelace led the Aggies carding a 143 through the first two rounds, shooting a 73 in round one and a 70 in the second round. Daniel Nielsen and Devin Tovey are both currently tied for ninth with a pair of 144s, while Dario Gabriel is two strokes back of them in 15th place. Weston Ward rounded out the CU lineup with a 154.
Statistically, Tovey tied for the tournament best with a three under par-4 score, while Ward tied for the field lead with a three under par-5 score. Lovelace led CU with nine birdies, while Tovey had six and Nielsen and Ward each had five.
Behind the Aggies and Hilltoppers, are Western New Mexico in third with a 580, Oklahoma Christian in fourth with a 586, and West Texas A&M is in fifth with a two round score of 592.
Individually, St. Edward’s Hudson Ross leads the tournament field with a 139 after carding a 65 during the second round of play.
Cameron and the rest of the field will complete the three round event on Tuesday.
