RICHARDSON, Texas – The Cameron volleyball team was picked sixth in the 2015 Lone Star Conference preseason poll announced on Tuesday.
The league’s preseason poll reflects the opinions of LSC head coaches and sports information directors, plus various media representatives from throughout the region and mirrored the Aggies’ finish in league play last year.
Cameron snapped a two season postseason drought last year and improved by eight wins from their 2013 finish under the guidance of Qi Wang who will be entering his second season with the Aggies.
West Texas A&M was selected to win the LSC with 19 first place votes, with Tarleton State tabbed as second with five. The Lady Buffs won the league’s regular season title with a 16-0 record and the TexAnns took the LSC tournament crown.
Selected third overall was Angelo State who picked up one first place vote, Texas Woman’s was fourth, and Texas A&M-Kingsville came in fifth.
Coming in behind the Aggies in the poll was Texas A&M-Commerce (7), Eastern New Mexico (8), and Midwestern State (9).
The Aggies open their 2015 season on the road with four neutral site matches on Sept. 4-5 at Texas Woman’s in Denton.
