WOODWARD – In true Classic Bowl form, the game ball was delivered to Boomer Field in dramatic fashion by way of a helicopter with the Air Evac team landing on the 50-yard line. And then the drama was over.

It took less than a minute of game time for the East to assert itself on the way to dominating Classic Bowl XXIX.

The East scored on the first play from scrimmage and never looked back, winning the 2017 edition of the Classic Bowl, 41-18.

Cashion’s Matt Harmon hit Chisholm’s Mason McKee for a 66-yard touchdown strike to open the scoring for the East. Harmon and McKee shared the East MVP honors.

Harmon threw a second TD pass, this one to Dylan Teftt (Deer Creek-Lamont), later in the quarter and had a game-high 137 passing yards on the night.

The West got on the board once in the first half when Wheeler’s Holden Guest ran 42 yards in for the score. With 197 all-purpose yards, Guest was named MVP for the West.

But the East struck again quickly, this time on a 92-yard kickoff return by McKee immediately following Guest’s touchdown. McKee racked up 200 all-purpose yards.

South Barber’s Grant Cantrell threw a pair of touchdown passes for the East in the second quarter, one to Watonga’s Jack Lafferty and one to Ringwood’s Zach Bromlow.

The West did have a defensive highlight, as Levi Ware (Wheeler) grabbed a pick-six and took it 20 yards to the end zone.
