CENTRAL, S.C. – Oklahoma Baptist scored 13 consecutive goals to open the game on their way to a 13-1 rout of Southern Wesleyan Saturday.
Four players scored multiple goals as the Lady Bison wrapped up their South Carolina road trip with a .500 (1-1) record. It was the first game for Southern Wesleyan in program history.
Breanna Wichert got the scoring going for OBU with 23:22 remaining in the first half. Taylor Skomp added the eventual winning goal just 21 seconds later as Lauren McCormack picked up her second assist of the season. Wichert scored again at the 22:31 mark and McCormack found the back of the net less than a minute later to extend the lead to 4-0.
Senior Allison Ingrim scored two of the next three goals, with McCormack netting her second goal of the game between a pair of goals from Ingrim. Skomp scored back-to-back goals and Wichert added her third score of the half with 6:03 remaining. Savannah Tompkins registered the final goal of the period to give the Lady Bison an 11-0 lead at intermission.
Freshman Taryn Burks scored her first collegiate goal to continue the run with 22:50 remaining in the second half and Ingrim scored for the third time with 13:29 left in the contest.
Courtney Barnickle picked up the win in goal, making three saves in a scoreless first half. Freshman Olivia Ward took over in the second half and finished with three saves while allowing only one goal.
Abigail Welch scored the only goal for the Warriors with 1:20 left in the second half.
Skomp, Wichert and Ingrim each scored three goals to lead the way and McCormack finished with two goals and one assist. Ingrim caused five turnovers to pace the team and Skomp scooped up three ground balls.
OBU returns to action on Feb. 17 when they host Missouri Baptist in the home opener at the OBU Lacrosse Complex. Game time is set for 1 p.m.
