The Lady Tigers took on the Binger-Oney Bobcats for a big game Friday and knew they needed a win to jump above .500. They had to fight for it, but eventually pulled away and came out on top, 54-48.

From the first minute of the game, it looked to be a close one. It took about two minutes for either team to score. The first quarter was back and forth, with a few seconds left in the quarter, Morgan Englebretson shot a three as the buzzer sounded and banked it in to tie the score at 13-all.

The second quarter wasn’t much different. The Lady Tigers and the Lady Bobcats clawed at every chance to get the ball in their teams hands. After two long quarters the halftime score was 26-25.

Going into the third quarter the Lady Tigers were confident and it showed as they pulled away and held a six-point lead.

The final quarter was an intense one as the Lady Tigers needed to keep their lead, but the Lady Bobcats were not giving up too easily, as they slowly gained a lead of 37-35.

Binger-Oney didn’t keep the lead long, though. In the next possession, Englebretson knocked down yet another three making it her fifth one in the game.

As the clock ticked down, more fouls went on the board as Binger desperately needed to get a chance to score. Every time the Bobcats fouled, the ladies went to the line for a chance to get more and more ahead, and eventually won their first conference game.

The leading scorer of the night was Englebretson with 18, followed by Kennedy Sepulvado and Alex Chipps, both with 11. Hunter Johnson had seven, Jamie Schieber had four and Julia Reyor scored three.
