Lady Lions remain in the same spot in NAIA poll … again; Stars hold steady as well

All Langston has done lately is win.

The Lady Lions have won six straight and 11 of the last 12 games. They are 15-3 on the year and 10-1 in the Red River Athletic Conference.

Their only loss since November is to the team (Our Lady of the Lake) that took over the No. 1 spot in the country in this week’s poll.

That stretch of play might be enough to get some notice and upward movement in the rankings. But it wasn’t.

Langston is No. 18 in this week’s NAIA Division I Women’s Basketball Coaches’ Top 25 Poll.

The Lady Lions were No. 18 last week, as well.

And the week before that.

And the week before that.

It doesn’t seem apparent what the team will have to do to ascend the rankings. Fortunately for Langston, the team will get the chance to prove itself in the postseason when it counts.

At that point, it will come to light whether this hold midway up the poll is warranted.

Oklahoma City (14-4, 9-1) also held on to its No. 14 spot from last week, despite a loss to then-No. 21 Wayland Baptist. It was the first loss in the Sooner Athletic Conference this season for the Stars.
