EDMOND – Joe Muller has resigned as athletic director at the University of Central Oklahoma, effective Aug. 23, according to reports from a university website.
UCentralNews wrote that the UCO athletic department confirmed a story put by NewsOK.com early last week regarding Muller’s resignation.
The university won 11 conference championships and one national championship in the eight years of Muller’s tenure.
The athletic department also raised a record amount of money recently. However, the department recently experienced a setback, as it was released that a $13.5 million donation, announced in June, would not be able to be fulfilled.
UCentralNews is reporting that Kevin Freeman will serve as the acting athletic director, as a national search for Muller’s replacement has begun.
