Three Oklahoma teams will take to the softball diamond on Friday in NCAA regional play. One is looking for a repeat, one wants no part of a repeat – from last week or last year – and one is dancing in the NCAAs for the first time.
Central Bronchos (40-15)
UCO, under interim head coach Cody White, is the No. 6 seed in the Central region. The Bronchos, the defending Division II champions, are looking to repeat and the road to another title may have started with a similar bump. Central fell to Emporia State in the MIAA tournament this season prior to entering the NCAA regional, just like it did in 2013. This season, however, the Bronchos will get a quick chance to exact revenge, as they will face the Hornets in a first round contest.
Southeastern Savage Storm (38-17)
SOSU came into the Great American Conference tournament as the top seed, but was shutout twice by Southern Arkansas in the final day. However, the Savage Storm drew an at-large bid as the No. 7 seed in the Central region. Southeastern faces the team that eliminated it in the postseason in 2013 in Minnesota-Mankato at the site of last season’s loss, the Mavericks’ home field.

Cameron Aggies (30-19)
CU is making its first appearance in the NCAA tournament. The Aggies put together their first winning season in five years and earned the No. 6 seed in the South Central region. Cameron fell to the region’s top seed, No. 1 ranked West Texas A&M, in the Lone Star Conference tournament final, but notched an epic comeback win over WTAMU earlier in the year. Cameron has never won at Angelo State, the subregional host site.
