NCCAA Track and Field competitions begin Thursday at OBU

SHAWNEE – Oklahoma Baptist is set to host the National Christian College Athletic Association Outdoor Track & Field National Championships, beginning Thursday.

A total of 28 schools from 16 states will compete for national championships over three days at the Hurt Memorial Track. There are 27 men’s teams and 24 women’s teams entered in the event.

Three Oklahoma schools comprise the field, including Oklahoma Baptist. Southwestern Christian and Oklahoma Wesleyan will also appear at the meet.

Thursday’s events begin at 2 p.m. with the start of the decathlon and heptathlon. Combined events wrap up Friday starting at 8:30 a.m. Track and field events are set for a 2 p.m. start Friday and will conclude Saturday beginning at noon. Opening ceremonies for the championship are scheduled for 11:45 a.m. Saturday.
