LAWTON – The Cameron men’s tennis team was selected as the number two seed in the South Central Region and will face Midwestern State in the first round of the NCAA Tournament.
The Black and Gold, who is the two seed in the region, will host the three seed Midwestern State on Saturday, April 29 at 11 a.m. at the Streich-Henry Family Tennis Complex in Lawton, Okla.
The Aggies, who have won five straight matches, come into the NCAA postseason with a 16-10 record, coming off of a Lone Star Conference Championship, where they beat UT Permian Basin 5-0 and Midwestern State 5-4.
The will be the third time in less than a month that CU and MSU have played each other, with Cameron winning 6-3 at home and 5-4 in the LSC Championship final.
The Mustangs enter with a 14-10 mark with nine wins over ranked teams.
Cameron has won four straight South Central Regional titles.
In the other South Central Region matchup, Heartland Conference champion St. Mary’s (Texas) plays host to Western New Mexico with the two regional winners advancing to the round of 16 at the Sanlando Park Tennis Center, May 9-12, in Altamonte Springs, Fla.
