NSU alum Herd signs free agent contract with BC Lions

TAHLEQUAH – Northeastern State football alumni Steffon Herd (Oklahoma City, Okla. /Del City HS) is now a member of the British Columbia (BC) Lions of the Canadian Football League after signing as a Free Agent.

Herd was a four-year letter winner for the RiverHawks from 2013-16 and left as an All-MIAA honoree during his last three playing seasons.   The former RiverHawks Defensive Back played in 43 career games and recorded 290 total tackles, mostly from the last three years.

During his senior season, Herd led Northeastern State with 101 overall tackles, with 71 being solo which was fourth highest in the MIAA.

Herd previously was an invitee by the Los Angeles Rams in May 2016 to their Rookie Mini Camp.

The BC Lions were founded in 1954 and have won 13 Western Division regular season championships, 10 Western Division championships, and six Grey Cup championships.
