TULSA, Okla.-The 2012 cross country teams will begin their seasons this Saturday as both the men and women compete at the Bob Timmons Classic, hosted by the University of Kansas.
The women’s team, with four returners from last year’s team, will look to defend its title from 2011. Last season, the Golden Eagles claimed the top three individual finishers, and put four in the top-10 as they scored 29 team points, beating out the hosting Jayhawks by six points.
Last year’s men’s team finished fourth overall, putting all five scoring runners inside the top-30 out of nearly 60 runners. The men return as many as five runners from last year and added four new freshmen to the lineup.
2012 will be a smaller race, with only three teams competing on the women’s side and four on the men, including: ORU, Kansas, UMKC and Highland CC (Men only).
The men’s 6K race will begin at 9 a.m. with the women running a 5K course at 10 a.m. Results from both races will be posted at www.ORUGoldenEagles.com. Live updates will also be provided through the Kansas Track twitter account (@KU_Track).
