Northwestern Oklahoma State’s Cooper Stanley dominated at the plate this week, earning him the Great American Conference Player of the Week honors. The honor is the first of the season for the Ranger baseball team.
Stanley led the team to arguably the best week of the season, as the ball club sported a solid 3-1 week, sweeping GAC foe Southern Nazarene in the process.
The Ranger senior designated hitter was essential to the Black-and-Red’s success as he went 8-for-17 at the dish for a .471 average.
Throughout the week, Stanley collected three singles, two doubles and three dingers, earning him eight RBIs along the way. The big week at the plate led him to an astronomical slugging percentage at 1.118.
Not only did he bring around eight runs, but he scored seven times himself and was awarded a total of 19 bases in the four-game stretch.
Stanley and the Rangers will be looking to add onto their fantastic week when they take the road to Wichita, Kan. to take on Newman. The mid-week contest will be followed up by a crucial weekend where the club will travel to Arkadelphia, Ark. to battle it out with Ouachita Baptist in a three-game set.
