Today the OSN Spotlight, presented by Blackbeard Marine, shines on Cody Jones!BlackBeardMarine-OKC-Kingston-Tulsa-New-2017

• Southern Nazarene cross country and track and field

• Hometown: Tulsa (Jenks H.S.)

• Mathematics major expected to graduate May 2021

• Favorite teams: “I like all the Oklahoma teams, OU, OSU, and TU, it’s always good to see these Oklahoma schools do well in athletics.”

• Favorite sports moment – personal: “Running a 1:53.79 in the 800, running away from the pack is probably my favorite moment thus far. I do not really have the speed gear that the other collegiate 800 guys have, so running away with a win was a nice experience.”

• Favorite sports moment – overall: “The bus ride, hotel stint, and overall team comradery of the trip to South Dakota for our regional championship must be one of my favorite experiences of all time. It is nice to be on a team that is not only competing at the collegiate level, but are some of my best friends. That trip, although an 11-plus hour drive, was an experience I won’t soon forget.”

• What do you like most about SNU? “Some of the things I like most about my school are the coaching staff, the teammates, and the facilities on the athletic side of things. On the academic side of things, the school including the professors, students, staff, and even the president himself, make SNU a welcoming place that made me feel right at home as soon as I set foot on campus.”

• Who do you most look up to? “The person I look up to the most is my coach. Coach Billy Miller is not only a great coach, but a great friend and a great Christian man. Coach Miller is realistic, straight to the point, and always there for his athletes. The door to his office is always open and he allows anyone to come in and talk to him, he is understanding and is very knowledgeable in the sport. If I could be like him not only as an athlete, but as a man, and most importantly as a follower of Jesus Christ I would be happy.”

•Goals: Keep progressing as an athlete and hopefully have a career beyond college.
