Running as an individual, Heavener’s Barbara Johnson edged Marietta’s Mandy Sykora by just more than half a second in the 3,200 cross-country race to claim the Class 3A girls’ individual medal. Marietta had three finish in the top six and would take the team cross-country title for the fourth consecutive year. The Lady Indians compiled just 36 points, 94 ahead of the rest of the field, and had runners place first, fifth, sixth, 11th and 13th (relative to team points earned).

Marietta had the top two finishers in the boys’ 5K race. Zane Nutter (16:55.91) and Bolton Fortune (17:09.09) led the way for the Indians, who won the team title for the second straight year, amassing just 38 points. MHS runners finished first, second, 10th, 11th and 14th (relative to team points earned).
