GOODWELL — The Panhandle State Rodeo team has become well-known for a time-tested tradition of excellence thanks to the unfailing support from the panhandle area. In appreciation of the continual backing, the team carried on the annual tradition of giving back to the community following the “Doc Gardner Memorial Rodeo” they hosted this spring.

This year the team had the opportunity to give all of the gate money collected at the “Doc Gardner Memorial Rodeo” to three individuals and one organization, Panhandle Nutrition Service. Panhandle Nutrition Service is a non-profit organization providing meals to the elderly in eight counties in Northwest Oklahoma.

In addition to the Senior Nutrition Services, Panhandle Nutrition Service also provides support services including congregate meals, nutrition education, home-delivered meals, outreach services, in-home services, and transportation to meal sites.

The purpose of the Senior Nutrition Program is to sustain the independent living skills of individuals 60 years of age or older, link them to the widest range of community services, and to promote the best possible physical and mental health without regard to economic status.

Panhandle Nutrition Service has locations in Alva, Arnett, Beaver, Boise City, Guymon, Laverne, Leedey, Woodward, and Vici. The rodeo team’s donation was designated specifically to benefit Texas County residents. For more information or to donate, call 580-338-1777 or find them on facebook at Panhandle Nutrition Service.

Panhandle State Rodeo team members and coaches would like to thank everyone for their continued support to the team.

Coach Robert Etbauer said, “We can’t thank everyone enough for the all the support that we receive to make everything possible for the program. It has been a busy summer of recruiting and we are looking forward to having new talent on campus to join our returning team members.”

The team will kick off their season this fall in Kansas at Colby Community College Sept. 16-18.
