This week’s Players of the Week are Relina Johnson, NWOSU, and DesJuan Newton, RSU.

Relina Johnson, sophomore, Northwestern

Johnson had 14 points against Southeastern with 14 points and went 4-of-6 from behind the arc.  The biggest three-pointer came with 4 seconds left and her team was trailing by one.  Johnson’s three gave her team the 69-67 win. Johnson had 12 more points in a win over Southern Nazarene.

DesJuan Newton, senior, Rogers State

The shooting guard played a big role in wins over the Heartland Conference’s top teams and put RSU right up there with them in the standings.  Newton averaged 23 points per game in wins over No. 23 St. Edward’s and Texas-Permian Basin and combined for 5-of-7 shooting from behind the arc. He also connected on 13-of-15 free throws.
