Randall captures 2020 NCCAA D-II men’s soccer championship

Randall University knocked off defending National Champions, Pensacola Christian College, and took home their first-ever NCCAA DII Men’s Soccer National Championship on Saturday. The No. 4 seeded Saints defeated the No. 3 Eagles 4-2 in penalty kicks after playing to a 0-0 tie through two overtimes. Saints goalkeeper Pedro Giordani had two critical saves in the shootout to help clinch the title.

The Saints defeated No. 6 Johnson University Tennessee 2-0 in their first pool play game, with goals coming from Rhys Farrow and Charlie Cartwright. Randall then shocked No. 1 Bob Jones University 3-2 in overtime, after trailing 2-1 earlier in the game. Holy Gbode, Fraser Wittman, and Renan Lara were the goal scorers, with Lara’s golden goal clinching the trip to the championship game.

Randall’s Jared Spencer was named the Tournament Most Outstanding Player. The All-Tournament Team and other awards are listed HERE.
