RiverHawks complete improbable comeback over Oklahoma Christian

TAHLEQUAH – One of the most improbable NCAA men’s soccer matches all-season took place at Dr. Dan DeLoache Field on Saturday evening.  Trailing 3-nil heading into the final 11-minutes the No. 8-ranked RiverHawks scored four goals inside of six minutes of play to rally past Oklahoma Christian (2-2) to stay perfect at 4-0 this season.  James Doyle had two goals and connected on a go-ahead penalty kick in the 86th minute to give NSU the win.  Joe Garcia started the RiverHawks’ rally with his fifth goal of the year in the 80th minute, and Trevor Reed scored his second of the season.

IN THE BOXSCORE

  • Northeastern State out-shot OC 13-to-3 in the second half.
  • Oklahoma Christian opened the contest with a goal in the second minute and led for over 80-minutes.
  • Reuben Rabstein came in as goalkeeper in the 36th minute and earned the win with two saves.
  • Doyle paced the RiverHawks with four shots.

EXTRA NOTES

  • Fourth match in a row that Garcia has had a goal.
  • First multi-goal contest for Doyle, he matched his career total on Saturday evening.
