LAWTON – Rodney DeLong is resigning as head coach of the Cameron University softball program and has accepted a position as an assistant coach for Georgia Tech.
DeLong recently completed his third season at Cameron with a 105-60 record and two NCAA South Central Regional appearances. This season, DeLong went 33-21 and finished a program best third place in the Lone Star Conference standings. In the last three years, the Aggies had 18 All-LSC selections, nine All-South Central region picks, and two All-Americans.
Prior to his time at Cameron, DeLong compiled an overall 211-64 softball prep-coaching record at Cache and Lawton MacArthur High School. At Cache, he led the Bulldogs to five district championships, four regional championships, and a state championship.
A national search for a coach will begin immediately.
