Short round action tonight at CNFR for seven Aggies

CASPER, Wyo. — The Oklahoma Panhandle State University Rodeo team finished the third round of the College National Finals Rodeo (CNFR) on Friday Night.

Stealing the show was senior Josh Frost. Frost rode Motown Magic of Harry Vold’s for 72.5 points which landed him in second place for the round. Senior Randi Buchanan came out firing and roped her calf in 2.8 seconds putting her ninth in the round. Ben and Nate Johnsrud had a little tough luck in the team roping and picked up a five second penalty for roping a leg making them 11.0 seconds in the third round.

Championship Saturday will feature seven Panhandle State Rodeo team members. Leading the way is junior Cody Ballard who is currently sitting second in the bull riding. Ballard is joined in the bull riding by senior Josh Frost. Frost will be coming into the short round in fourth place. In the saddle bronc riding, junior Jake Finlay will come into tonight’s short round in seventh place. Junior Will Martin will also come into the championship round in seventh place in the bareback riding.

At the timed event end of the arena Ben and Nate Johnsrud will be competing in the team roping. The Johnsrud brothers come into the short round in eighth place. Senior Randi Buchanan will be the only Panhandle State cowgirl in the short round. Buchanan will enter tonight’s short round in tenth place in the breakaway.
