WICHITA FALLS – Cameron’s Thomas Toth gave the Aggies a first place individual finish at Lone Star Conference Championships on Saturday morning with a time of 24:52.50. The Aggies as a team would finish in fifth place with 100 points.
The individual championship for Toth was Cameron’s first in program history, who won with a 32 second advantage over West Texas A&M’s Brett Villarreal.  However, the Buffs would take their second league title in a row by 53 points over Eastern New Mexico.  Despite the WT landside win, the race 20 points separated CU from second place.
“It was a very tight team race…we were fifth as a team but only 20 points from being in second place overall,” said head coach Zach Johnson. “Thomas (Toth) won the individual title easily, he got a big lead, and relaxed at the end; Steve Orwel also ran well for us today.
Methuselah Lagat was CU’s second highest finisher in 14th place with a time at 26:23.40, Orwel came in 20th overall running the 8K race in 26:52.4, Pascal Paintner was 25th (27:33.30), and Grant Wignall was CU’s fifth finisher with a time of 28:17.50 to place 45th overall.
Loic Soria was 52nd place (28.44.0) and Henri Hansert came in 54th (29:00.8).
The Aggies had a team time at 2:13:49.30 and averaged 26:45.80 per runner.
Both Toth and Lagat were named All-Conference for a top-15 finish at the meet.
The Aggies will move onto the NCAA South Central Regional in Denver, Colo. on Nov. 22 to face teams from the Lone Star, Rocky Mountain Athletic, and Heartland Conferences.
